Today, January 23, 2026, a meeting of the Ministry of Energy took place in Bishkek, where the results of the work for 2025 were summarized.

During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev raised the issue of the amount of electricity imported by Kyrgyzstan from neighboring countries.

The General Director of JSC "NESC" Ilgiz Sydygaliev reported that in 2025, 3.885 billion kWh of electricity was imported.

According to him, "the execution of the plan was 89–90%, while the shortfall reached 499 million kWh."

Torobaev specified which countries did not meet the planned supply volumes.

Sydygaliev responded that "Kazakhstan underdelivered 253 million kWh, Turkmenistan — 178 million kWh, Uzbekistan — 43 million kWh, and the Russian Federation supplied 224 million kWh instead of the planned 255 million kWh, resulting in a shortfall of 30 million kWh. In total, the overall shortfall amounted to 499 million kWh."

In response to Torobaev's question about what would happen if these countries could not fulfill their obligations, especially considering the approaching February, Sydygaliev explained that a similar situation was observed last year.

"In December, we faced difficulties; however, in February and March, the suppliers fully compensated for the shortfall of 499 million kWh. We conducted a detailed analysis and found that the situation last year was similar. As a result, the execution of supply volumes was approximately 93–94%," he added.

Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev assured that the available volumes are sufficient for successfully navigating the autumn-winter season.
