The Ministry of Natural Resources and the UN Discussed the Results of Cooperation in 2025 on Climate and Ecology

On February 26, consultations were held at the Ministry of Nature dedicated to the results of the implementation of the UN Framework Program for Cooperation, focused on sustainable development in the areas of climate, environment, energy, and disaster risk management.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Nature, the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Asel Raimkulova, UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Antje Grave, UNDP Resident Representative in the country Alexandra Solovieva, as well as representatives from FAO and UN Women — Oleg Guchgeldiev and Syed Sadik, respectively. Additionally, the country director of the World Food Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic, Kojiro Nakai, was also present at the meeting.

Participants discussed joint work for 2025 aimed at increasing the climate resilience of Kyrgyzstan, optimizing natural resource management, and strengthening disaster warning and response systems. The main strategic priorities for 2026–2027 were also identified.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on the comprehensive measures taken in 2025 aimed at enhancing the country's adaptive capacity to the impacts of climate change, developing disaster risk management mechanisms, and expanding intersectoral cooperation involving government structures, international organizations, and the private sector.

Furthermore, participants highlighted the importance of aligning climate and environmental priorities with the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan until 2030, which will enable the achievement of specific, measurable results that contribute to improving the well-being of the population and the sustainable development of the country's regions.
