During the meeting held by the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanbek Dosmambetov, with Alexandra Solovieva, the UNDP Resident Representative in the country, the main areas of cooperation for improving the healthcare system until 2030 were discussed.

The Ministry of Health emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional foundations, increasing human resources capacity, implementing digital technologies in medicine, and enhancing the resilience of the national healthcare system.

One of the key topics of discussion was the improvement of procurement mechanisms for medical goods through the UN system. Plans for centralized procurement were discussed, which will help ensure access to quality medicines at reasonable prices and make the procurement process more transparent and efficient. Progress in the implementation of previously reached agreements and preparatory work on forming lists of necessary medications was also noted.

Kanbek Dosmambetov expressed gratitude to UNDP for its support in implementing programs to combat tuberculosis and for assistance in reforming the healthcare system, highlighting the importance of international procurement mechanisms for more rational use of budgetary funds.

Additionally, the transitional phase of implementing the Global Fund grant for combating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria was discussed during the meeting. The Ministry of Health is considered the main recipient of the grant in the next cycle, which implies work on the sequential transition of functions and strengthening program management. Attention was also given to preparing an application for the new grant cycle and ensuring the sustainability of current programs, including access to diagnostics and treatment for vulnerable groups.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their desire to continue the partnership aimed at creating a modern, sustainable, and effective healthcare system in the Kyrgyz Republic.
