Many parents do not realize the full extent of the harm that technology can cause. Bright animated films, educational apps, and "harmless" videos may seem safe, but this opinion is misguided.
Among the negative consequences of excessive gadget use, the following can be highlighted:
- deterioration of vision;
- slowed speech development;
- increased anxiety, excitability, neuroses, and depressive states;
- difficulties in socialization and a lack of emotional intelligence;
- learning difficulties, including decreased concentration and impaired memory;
- posture problems (scoliosis, osteochondrosis), circulation issues in the neck area, headaches;
- sleep disorders and difficulties falling asleep.
Experts emphasize that gadgets can be beneficial by providing educational content, but this primarily applies to older children and under reasonable restrictions.
The recommended screen time for children is:
- up to 2 years — completely exclude;
- from 2 to 5 years — no more than 1 hour a day;
- from 6 to 18 years — a maximum of 2 hours a day.
According to the World Health Organization, modern children spend too much time in front of screens, and experts strongly advise focusing on active and mobile games.
"Spend more time outdoors with your children, play, and engage in sports as a family. Active movement with moderate load promotes not only physical but also mental development in children," recommend the BCUP.
