During the meeting, the composition of the interdepartmental commission was also formed, which will continue the work on selecting a new anthem. The commission includes Nurchamal Torobekova, Baktyyar Kalpaev, Venera Salyamova, Kamila Talieva, and Ulan Zhaanbaev.
Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu emphasized that the commission must complete the selection of a new anthem by June 1.
“Both individual authors and groups can participate in the competition. If necessary, we can extend the commission's term until September. We need an anthem that every citizen can perform,” noted the speaker.
At the meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, local self-government, and regulations, held on January 27, the deputies reviewed three anthem projects that were presented during the preliminary selection and rejected them.
The idea to change the anthem in 2024 was voiced by the Speaker of Parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu and was supported by the president. As a result, an interdepartmental commission was created to work on the new anthem, with the note that the new anthem should be selected by April 2025.
