
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, visited the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, where he familiarized himself with the work of the educational institution and interacted with its staff.
In his speech, he emphasized the importance of education for the future of the country. “Only with an enlightened society can we build a strong state. Our main wealth is our people, and the development of the country completely depends on the knowledge of its citizens,” he noted.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu also reminded about his initiative regarding the division of the relevant ministry. In 2025, two separate agencies will begin to operate: the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations. According to the speaker, this decision will accelerate the reform process.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu emphasized the need to implement new technologies and called for the development of a draft law regulating the use of artificial intelligence. He added that the KNU should become a model in training specialists with practical experience.
During the discussion with the teachers, the idea of creating a special law that could elevate the status of KNU was voiced. The Speaker supported this proposal, noting that universities should become scientific centers capable of fulfilling state orders and replacing foreign consultants in key projects.
In concluding the meeting, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu touched upon the topic of salaries. He assured that after the salary increases for school teachers, the salaries of university staff will also be reviewed. “The salaries of educators should not be lower than those of the ministry,” the speaker summarized.
