At the meeting on January 28, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu spoke about the decision of the committee on constitutional legislation regarding the rejection of the presented projects for the national anthem.

“We carefully reviewed the texts and melodies, listened to all the options. Unfortunately, none of them meet the requirements of a worthy anthem. Therefore, it was decided to reject these works for further refinement. Our task is not to replace the existing anthem, but to ensure that it is understood and loved by everyone—from children to the elderly. For this, it is necessary that it is well-written,” he noted.

In his opinion, the variations proposed for the competition sound like marches. “But not everyone will be able to perform them. The anthem should be easy and memorable, like ‘Kyrgyz Zheri’ or ‘Mekenim Meykin’. We need to move away from the style of the Soviet era. There’s no need to torture ourselves; let it be a free piece so that it can be sung everywhere, not just at official events. The competition for a new anthem continues, and prizes are provided for composers,” the speaker added.
