In the Ton district of the Issyk-Kul region, local residents decided to freeze water to create an ice reservoir. This initiative was voiced by Samat Emilbek uulu, a local resident.

According to him, the artificial glacier was formed in the Eski-Kainar area, which is located in the upper part of the village of Bokonbaev, near the rural district of Kun-Chyghys. This area has about 15-20 households, and the land allocated for agricultural crops is approximately 60 hectares. "In spring and summer, we often experience a shortage of water. Therefore, villagers Sagin and Altynbek proposed the idea of freezing water in winter, which goes to waste during this time, so that we can store it for later use. We published this in the village group, but initially, many were skeptical.

“I brought a 150-meter hose for watering the apple orchard. After we started freezing, the ice began to accumulate, and large blocks formed. People started to contribute: 15 households donated 3,000 soms each, and with this money, we purchased the hose, and we continue to freeze water. Our goal is to save every drop so that this ice can gradually melt and provide additional water later. This year we started this process for the first time—in mid-December. If everything goes well, we plan to repeat the experience next year,” he shared.
