In the village of Novopavlovka, a tense meeting took place, involving the mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, and local residents. The main topic of discussion was the project for the construction of Profsoyuznaya Street, which has caused dissatisfaction due to its proximity to the cemetery. It should be noted that the reconstruction of the street is planned as part of a project to create an alternative road to Manas Airport.

Residents expressed their emotions and demands. Their speeches included accusations of "interference with the sacred," and people were concerned that the road would "pass over graves." Some questioned how the cemetery's territory could have expanded by 6 hectares.

In response to the noise, Aybek Junushaliev raised his hands, calling for calm: "You and your parents are not to blame. But the city needs to develop."

The mayor immediately stated that no work would be carried out on the cemetery's territory until the issue was discussed with local residents.

According to the mayor, there are currently two route options: one that carefully bypasses the cemetery and another, older one, that passes closer. A final decision has not yet been made: "I have ordered that no one enters or digs. First, an analysis will be conducted, then a dialogue with the residents."

When asked directly about the possibility of influencing the project, the mayor replied that he could prepare an analytical note and present it to the leadership; however, the final decision would be made "taking into account the opinions of the people."

He also emphasized the importance of this road for the infrastructure: Profsoyuznaya Street is intended to relieve the area where a single bypass lane cannot handle the flow of cars, forcing public transport to seek alternative routes.

Nevertheless, the mayor again stressed the need for a live dialogue: "We are ready to meet again — in a large hall with microphones, so everyone can express their opinion. Provocations will not help — we need a joint solution."

Residents insisted on holding separate public hearings and demanded guarantees that no burial site would be affected. Aybek Junushaliev confirmed this guarantee and promised that any decision would be made only after fully considering all proposals from the population.

The situation remains under control. Municipal specialists are working on updated calculations, while residents are preparing new questions for the authorities.
