The state enterprise "National Company 'Kyrgyz Temir Zholu'" set a new record for cargo transportation volume in 2025, marking a significant event for the Kyrgyz railway. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Transport at the end of the year.

Historically, the average volume of cargo transported by rail in Kyrgyzstan remained at around 7 million tons. In 2024, this figure increased to 9.2 million tons, and in 2025 it reached 10.5 million tons, which is 114.2% compared to the previous year. This represents an increase of 1.3 million tons compared to the same period in 2024.

With the funds from the National Company "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu," the construction of the 50-kilometer railway section from Balikchy to Kochkor is currently underway, with a planned length of 63.4 kilometers.
Additionally, the foundation work for the Kochkor station has been completed, and the construction of the station building has begun. At present, the monolithic concrete frame of the first floor has been installed. It is expected that the Kochkor station will be put into operation in 2026, and the operation of this railway section will commence.

Active construction work has also begun along the entire length of the "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan" railway, which includes the construction of 50 bridges and 29 tunnels.
As part of this project, temporary infrastructure facilities were built in a short time. The installation of a temporary power line has been completed, and temporary tracks have been laid along the entire length of the railway (192.323 kilometers). Eleven main construction camps have also been put into operation, and all 29 tunnels along the route have entered the underground work stage.
