Late to seek help. The reasons for maternal mortality were named by a doctor.
According to the doctor, problems begin even in the prenatal period. Many women do not register in the early stages of pregnancy, seeking help only in critical situations, which is mostly due to a lack of information. "Registering by 12 weeks of pregnancy is 80% of the success in preventing maternal mortality," noted Amiraeva.
She also pointed out important symptoms that should raise concern: severe headaches, swelling, absence of urination, vomiting, and the appearance of "floaters" in front of the eyes.
A separate risk group consists of women suffering from chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular, kidney, and endocrine pathologies. Some of them, despite medical contraindications, decide to become pregnant without obtaining the necessary consultations from specialists.
"Every woman dreams of becoming a mother, but safe motherhood begins with pregnancy planning. Both partners should undergo examinations; it is also important to regularly attend preventive check-ups and prenatal screenings," added the specialist. She emphasized the need for improving the qualifications of obstetricians-gynecologists to enhance the quality of medical care.
In 2025, the country is witnessing an increase in maternal mortality: 48 cases have been registered (34.8 per 100,000 live births), which is 35.4% higher than the level in 2024, when 36 cases were recorded (25.7 per 100,000). According to the Ministry of Health, the main causes of maternal mortality include extragenital diseases, hemorrhages, sepsis, and hypertensive disorders.
