Monetary Awards and Certificates of Honor: How Veterans of Afghanistan Were Congratulated in the Ak-Talinsky District

In the Naryn region, in the Ak-Tal district, celebrations were held dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

On February 15, at the initiative of the district state administration, the chairman of the veterans' council, and the instructor of pre-conscription training at the Shukurbek Beishenaliev Secondary School, Sharshenbek Murzabekov, a military-cultural event was held in honor of the veterans of the war in Afghanistan. This event was attended not only by veterans but also by representatives of local authorities, heads of institutions, village leaders, as well as teachers and students.

As part of the event, veterans laid wreaths at the monument to the fallen soldiers who gave their lives in Afghanistan and Batken, located in the village of Bayetov, after which a prayer was read. Then, a military-cultural program prepared by Murzabekov took place at the Shukurbek Beishenaliev Secondary School. The students demonstrated their skills in marching and the rapid assembly and disassembly of a rifle, and also performed a small concert.

After the program, veterans were congratulated by the district leadership and representatives of the community. The Ak-Tal district state administration allocated 20,000 soms for the veterans and presented letters of gratitude and certificates of honor. The heads of the village administrations also prepared monetary rewards for the veterans ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 soms, and some of them received awards from the military commissariat.

From the Ak-Tal district, 51 people served in Afghanistan, of whom one died, and 50 returned home alive. Subsequently, 7 more veterans died from their injuries.
