The mayor noted that Bishkek does not rank high in international air pollution ratings. "For example, yesterday Almaty was in 4th place, while we were in 64th. There is no apocalypse," he stated, comparing the situation to Almaty.
The mayor also reported that local authorities are studying the experience of neighboring countries; in particular, Tashkent has developed 24 measures to improve air quality, 11 of which have already been implemented in Bishkek.
According to Aibek Junushaliev, a complete solution to the smog problem has not yet been achieved, but there is a noticeable reduction in the concentration of harmful particles.

The mayor also commented on the operation of the CHPP. He reported that the second winter of the heat and power plant is going smoothly, and a desulfurization system has been installed on one of the pipes. "We launched it on the smallest pipe of the CHPP — it’s just steam," he added.
In addition, the process of gasification of residential areas continues in Bishkek: out of 105 new buildings, 54 are already connected to gas. The mayor noted that municipal inspections regularly check houses from which black smoke is emitted.
"We also live here, and my children live here. We are using all available means to improve air quality," assured Aibek Junushaliev, noting that efforts to improve the environmental situation will continue.
