At a meeting of the Environmental Council in Bishkek, Dmitry Pereyaslavsky, an ecologist-urbanist, emphasized the need for regular disclosure of information about the emissions from the new waste incineration plant located at the sanitary landfill in the residential area of "Altyn-Kazyk".
He noted that this facility is situated in an area where the number of settlements has significantly increased in recent years, and residents are concerned about the potential release of dioxins.
“There are now many new buildings in this area, and we are observing dioxin emissions. We need to know how much pollution the plant emits daily,” he stressed.
Pereyaslavsky also pointed out that the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic receives information about emissions only once a day, but this information is not available to the general public.
In response to these remarks, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, stated that sensors for monitoring emissions will soon be installed at the plant.

The ecologist also reminded of the need to preserve green spaces and shrubs in the urban environment. The mayor added that municipal services only remove old plants and only in places where new roads are being laid to avoid dust.
He noted that this year, the planting of 3,500 seedlings is planned.
“Wherever possible and necessary, we will plant shrubs — there are no problems with that,” he added.
Furthermore, the mayor emphasized that technical water, not drinking water, is used for watering lawns. As part of a grant project, the city authorities plan to drill 18 more wells.
To this, Pereyaslavsky countered that the water from the wells could also be suitable for drinking.
