This is the first such activity in the capital. Administrator Shoola Baisaev noted that both the trainers and the participants love pets, and many of them have their own animals. The branch in the 7th microdistrict is unique in that it allows people to come to training with dogs, provided they are well-socialized.
However, in Bishkek, the practice of shooting stray dogs continues. Although no official studies have been conducted, the culling of animals in the capital has been happening for several years, and the number of stray dogs is not decreasing. Local residents continue to complain about situations where someone keeps more than a hundred dogs in their home or about cases where packs attack people and scare children.
At the same time, in the neighboring city of Kant, there is a positive example of addressing this issue. In 2022, the Kant city administration signed an agreement with a Kyrgyz-French organization and launched the "Kumayyk" program aimed at reducing the stray dog population. As part of this initiative, temporary shelters were opened where animals were neutered or spayed and then returned to their natural environment. According to the mayor of Kant, by 2025, the number of stray animals in the city has significantly decreased, as has the number of complaints about them.
