After the renovation, the Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek has been closed to residents. A petition has been created.
The authors of the petition emphasize that this stadium is a public institution funded by taxpayers and should be accessible to everyone.
“We, the residents of the capital, express our concern about the inaccessibility of the stadium for citizens. This restriction violates our right to access sports infrastructure, which hinders us from engaging in sports, running, and spending time with children at playgrounds. The stadium was built with public funds and should serve the interests of society. Limiting access negatively affects the health of the population and may lead to a decline in well-being,” the authors of the appeal note.
Citizens are calling on the authorities to open the stadium or at least establish a specific visiting schedule that takes into account the interests of all residents.
According to the signatories, maintaining physical activity and the health of the population during pandemics and stress is extremely important. The stadium could become a place for sports activities where people could strengthen their health and spend time outdoors.
They hope for the possibility of engaging in sports in the morning hours from 6:00 to 9:00 and in the evening from 18:00 to 21:00.
