According to information from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, there is a growth in domestic production of vegetable oil in Kyrgyzstan. This will significantly reduce import supplies and improve the market situation.

As of the end of 2024, the level of self-sufficiency in vegetable oil increased from 20.2% in 2022 to 50%. During the 11 months of 2025, this figure reached 56.5%, with a total production volume of about 18,500 tons.

This growth was achieved thanks to the expansion of processing capacities. In 2026, five new enterprises engaged in the processing of oilseeds were opened in the republic: one in the Issyk-Kul region, two in the Naryn region, and one each in the Talas and Chui regions. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, there are 9 large and 136 small enterprises operating in this sector in the country.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture is actively working on the introduction of high-yielding varieties of oilseeds. Currently, new varieties from the USA, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey are being tested. A promising safflower variety "Petrovich," which has demonstrated stable and high production results, has been added to the State Register of Varieties.
