On December 30, a ceremonial handover of service vehicles for water management in various regions took place in Kyrgyzstan.

As part of this initiative, 44 JAC T-8 vehicles were transferred, purchased using the state budget. Of these, 42 vehicles are intended for the Water Resources Service, and 2 for the Fisheries Department. The total cost of the new fleet amounted to 92.6 million soms.

This event is part of a state program conducted under the leadership of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Japarov, aimed at developing the irrigation sector and ensuring the efficient use of water resources. Water, as emphasized, plays a key role in ensuring food security and the sustainable development of agriculture and the economy of the country.

From 2024 to 2030, the construction of 106 regulating reservoirs is planned to prevent water shortages and enhance the reliability of irrigation systems. Currently, construction work is actively underway at 11 sites.

Additionally, in 2024–2025, 104 units of special equipment funded by the state will be transferred to improve the condition of irrigation networks, as well as 182 units with the support of international organizations.

The JAC T-8 vehicles were selected considering the challenging terrain conditions, which will allow specialists to respond quickly to various situations and ensure constant monitoring of the state of irrigation systems.

At the ceremony, it was noted that the state will continue to strengthen the material and technical base of water management by modernizing infrastructure and developing human resources.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, emphasized in his speech that the agricultural sector occupies a central place in the country's economy, serving as its main driver.

"In Kyrgyzstan, the number of processing enterprises operating seasonally and year-round has reached 425. By the president's directive, hundreds of new productions are launched annually. This year, 119 enterprises were opened, more than half of which are related to agriculture," noted the head of government.

He added that the modernization of the irrigation sector remains a priority. In 2024, 1 billion soms were allocated for these purposes, while funding increased to 1.7 billion soms over the 11 months of 2025. Currently, work continues on cleaning, constructing, and strengthening canals, as well as on the construction of regulating reservoirs.
