At the dump in Sulukt, located in the Batken region, two girls, aged 6 and 7, were found working, as reported by a Turmush correspondent.

The little girls were collecting metal and other waste to help their grandmother.

Jazgul Ravshanbek kyzy, a specialist in the family and child protection department of the labor, social security, and migration management of the city of Sulukt, noted that both girls do not attend school.

She added that department staff, along with juvenile inspectors from the Sulukt city police, regularly conduct activities aimed at preventing child labor exploitation.

“In Sulukt itself, cases of child labor involvement and their disengagement from education are almost nonexistent. However, during a recent raid at the dump, two girls were spotted working with their grandmother. They are from the Lülü mahalla (ethnic Roma) and arrived from Osh,” said J. Ravshanbek kyzy.

According to the grandmother, her daughter passed away, and now she has to take care of her two granddaughters. The girls do not attend school and work with their grandmother, collecting garbage for income.

Relevant agency staff held an explanatory conversation with them and warned that if proper care for the children is not provided, they would be forced to contact government authorities.
