About 70% of traffic accidents involving buses in Bishkek are caused by other drivers - Omurzakov

The chief engineer of bus fleet No. 2 of the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek City Transport," Arthur Omurzakov, shared information about the number of drivers and the activities of bus fleets in the capital during a broadcast on Birinchi Radio. According to him, there are five bus fleets operating in Bishkek, with a total of 2,660 drivers. Omurzakov noted that on the roads, there are both responsible and less conscientious drivers.

“In 2025, we held more than 18 meetings together with the Patrol Police Department of Bishkek, where we discussed issues related to traffic rule compliance. At one of these meetings, even the head of the Republican Traffic Police was present,” he added.

He also emphasized that many traffic accidents involving buses are not the fault of their drivers. “Our analysis showed that about 70% of accidents involving buses occur due to the actions of other drivers, primarily passenger cars,” Omurzakov clarified.

Additionally, he noted that there is ongoing monitoring of driver performance and the technical condition of the buses. Joint inspections are conducted with the Patrol Police Department of Bishkek aimed at controlling the operations of the bus fleets and the condition of the vehicles.
