Deputy Toktobubu Ashimbaeva has proposed the restoration of the honorary title "People's Teacher." This draft law, concerning state awards and titles, is available on the website of the Jogorku Kenesh.

The title "People's Teacher" was first introduced in 2001 and was awarded to school teachers, educators of educational institutions, as well as authors of educational materials for their significant achievements in the field of education and youth upbringing.

According to Ashimbaeva, from the time of its establishment until 2017, this title was awarded to 25 educators, of whom only seven are currently alive.

After 2017, the title "People's Teacher" was abolished; however, the title "Honored Teacher" remains in effect.

"The profession of a teacher has a high social status and is important for society. It attracts talented individuals, is based on love for children, and the ability to inspire them. Teaching is a calling that requires public recognition and encouragement for hard work. This is necessary to enhance the prestige of the profession. The state, society, and parents should value and respect the work of teachers as one of the most significant," the justification emphasizes.

Furthermore, the deputy is convinced that restoring the prestige of teaching will help attract qualified specialists to the education sector and improve the quality of education in schools.
