At a briefing conducted by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov, it was reported that the plan for joint military training in 2025 was fully implemented. He noted that in the outgoing year, the practice of organizing events continued against the backdrop of a complex military-political situation. The scenarios for the exercises were developed taking into account the real situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and forecasts of potential threats to collective security.
In 2025, 61 events were held, including operational consultations, staff negotiations, and large joint exercises. Summarizing the results, Serdyukov emphasized the significant increase in geopolitical tension and the proximity of instability zones to the borders of CSTO member states. In these conditions, the work of the Joint Staff was carried out in strict accordance with the tasks set by the heads of state and defense ministers, with a special focus on the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic's presidency. The main goal remained the support of high combat readiness of collective forces to ensure peace and security.
Among the key results of the year was the approval by the heads of state of the military cooperation development plan for 2026–2030. This document lays the foundations for coalition military construction for the next five years and forms a long-term vision for the entire military component of the CSTO.
The practical implementation of tasks in 2025 took place on the territories of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Military contingents practiced operational redeployment of forces, coordination of multinational groupings, and their application, relying on the experience of modern armed conflicts. Special attention was paid to the deployment of command systems and the protection of command posts from attacks by enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. As Andrey Serdyukov noted, all research and training objectives were achieved: personnel demonstrated high field training and readiness to act as a cohesive unit in crisis situations.
