In particular, deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed confusion about the need for GKNB oversight in parliament.
“What is his role? He was appointed a long time ago, but I don’t understand why he is needed. We have a presidential representative and a speaker; we can always resolve issues without publicity. So why is a GKNB curator necessary? Are deputies perceived as enemies that a curator is appointed over us?” the MP stated.
Speaker Marlen Mamataliyev promised to provide a written response to this question.
Additionally, Bekeshev noted that society has many questions for the new GKNB leadership, one of which concerns the cessation of the practice of confiscating property from citizens for the benefit of the state.
“Among the GKNB staff, it turns out, there are people with unusual nicknames, such as Vaseline, Lick, and others. How many more such individuals are working there? Will they be held accountable for their actions? Will their cases be reviewed? These people have caused significant harm to many citizens. It was like in horror stories when people feared that the GKNB would come for any issue. In some cases, this was justified, in others — not. We need to hear what will happen next,” Bekeshev added.
Furthermore, he reminded that the GKNB independently blocked TikTok without trial or investigation and called for this decision to be overturned, as similar content is also available on YouTube.
It is also worth noting that President Sadyr Japarov appointed Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov as acting head of the GKNB on February 10, after removing Kamchybek Tashiev from this position. This appointment led to a number of changes within the GKNB, including the detention of some employees.
