It should be noted that in August 2025, during a summit in Alaska, Donald Trump handed Vladimir Putin a letter from Melania Trump. According to Reuters, the letter discussed the fate of Ukrainian children taken to Russia during the conflict. Later, other media outlets published the text of the letter, in which Ukraine was not mentioned. The letter stated: "Mr. Putin, you can bring joyful laughter back to the children. By protecting their innocence, you will do good not only for Russia but for all of humanity." In October, Melania Trump reported that her representative "is working directly with President Putin's team" to ensure the safe reunification of Ukrainian children with their families. She noted that as a result of these negotiations, eight children were able to reunite with their relatives.
