
“Consultations were provided”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan commented on the information regarding the sentencing of a citizen of the country, J.S.A., who was involved in arms smuggling.
According to American authorities, the Kyrgyz citizen was arrested in 2025, and the court issued a ruling on his punishment on January 22 of this year.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that since the citizen's arrest, operational contact has been established with Kyrgyzstan's foreign institutions in the USA, which provided him with the necessary consular assistance. Throughout the entire process, there was constant interaction with him, and he was given consultations aimed at protecting his rights and legitimate interests under international law and the legislation of the country where he was located.
It is worth noting that, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, Sergey Zharnovnikov, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, was involved in arms smuggling to Russia through his company registered in Bishkek, amounting to $1.5 million since 2020.
