The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry spoke about the investigation into the murder of a Tajik boy at a school in the Moscow region

Sirojiddin Mukhriddin
In his speech, the minister noted that, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case, and the suspect has been detained. He has been charged with murder and attempted murder with aggravating circumstances, after which the court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest. “The Russian side promised to inform about the further results of the investigation,” Mukhriddin added.

The tragedy that occurred with Kobiljon was characterized by the minister as “the pain of the entire nation.” “From the first day, this issue has been under the special control of the president of the country, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also actively overseeing it,” he emphasized.

At the same time, the minister did not specify whether Kobiljon's parents have a lawyer and did not provide information on the timeline for the start of the court proceedings.

Discussing the protection of the rights of migrant children and citizens of Tajikistan in Russia, Mukhriddin noted that their department maintains constant contact with Russian authorities, and significant work is being done between the countries. “Every incident involving citizens of Tajikistan in Russia is taken under control, and all diplomatic structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of other agencies, take necessary measures to protect the rights of our citizens,” he said.

The minister also added that Russia is a large country where Tajik citizens live in every region, so it can be difficult to provide timely assistance to everyone. Nevertheless, he emphasized that there is mutual understanding between the countries.

Despite the incidents that arise, Mukhriddin noted that “mutual understanding at the government level remains, and cooperation will continue.”

Kobiljon Aliyev was killed on December 16 at a school in the Moscow region by a 15-year-old Russian citizen using a knife. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported that the attack was motivated by national hatred.

The boy's body was returned to Tajikistan on December 18, 2025, and he was buried in the Shahrinav district.
