At the Munich Security Conference, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that Washington has doubts regarding Russia's sincerity in seeking peaceful negotiations over the conflict with Ukraine. He made this statement during his speech.

Rubio noted that the U.S. continues to seek ways to achieve an agreement that satisfies both Ukraine and Russia.

He emphasized: "It is unclear how ready the Russians are to actually end the war. While they claim to be serious, we are unclear about the conditions they might offer to resolve the conflict."

The Secretary of State also added that the U.S. will continue its efforts to support a peaceful resolution to the situation.

According to him, "no one present here would be against a peaceful settlement of the conflict through negotiations if the conditions are fair and lasting."

In addition, Rubio called for strengthening the partnership between the U.S. and Europe amid rising tensions in transatlantic relations, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to achieve security and prosperity.

He noted: "We believe that Europe must survive, as our fate will always be interconnected."

The Secretary of State also stressed that Washington does not seek to worsen relations; on the contrary, it aims to "restore the old friendship" with European countries.

Additionally, Rubio expressed criticism of mass migration, describing it as a factor contributing to the destabilization of societies in the West.

He noted: "This issue is not insignificant. It represents a crisis that transforms and destabilizes Western societies."

The 62nd Munich Security Conference is taking place from February 13 to 15 in Germany and gathers over 60 leaders of states and governments, as well as defense ministers from nearly 100 countries. The main topic of discussion is the cessation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
