According to information obtained from American sources, President Trump's team has begun discussing a scenario for possible peace negotiations with Iran amid the current military actions. In particular, on March 20, Trump announced intentions to "wind down" the war, although experts in Washington believe that the conflict may last for several more weeks. In this regard, the president's advisors are working on preparing the conditions for a diplomatic approach.

Among the potential representatives for the negotiations are Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. Sources report that Washington would like to include a number of conditions in the agreement, such as restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, regulating Iran's stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, and long-term agreements regarding the nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and support for armed groups in the region.

Despite the lack of direct contacts between the U.S. and Iran in recent days, Axios reports that intermediaries from Egypt, Qatar, and the United Kingdom have been relaying messages between the parties. Iran has expressed interest in dialogue but has set tough conditions, including a ceasefire, guarantees against the resumption of conflict, and compensation.

According to Axios, the Trump administration is also discussing six key commitments they would like to receive from Iran. These include a five-year suspension of the missile program, zero uranium enrichment, dismantling reactors in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, strict control over centrifuges, regional agreements on arms control, and cessation of funding for groups such as Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas. It is also noted that Iran has previously rejected some of these demands.

Additionally, Axios reports that Washington is considering a deal in which Iran could receive its frozen assets. Trump's team is trying to determine who exactly makes key decisions in Tehran and which country could serve as a suitable mediator for future negotiations.
