
Tokayev emphasized the importance of the upcoming XXV Winter Olympic Games and XIV Winter Paralympic Games, which will gather the strongest athletes in the world on Italian soil.
About 40 Kazakhstani athletes will participate in the Olympic Games, representing 10 different sports. For most of them, this will be their first experience in such prestigious competitions. On the way to the Winter Olympics, our athletes achieved impressive results on the international stage, winning 17 gold, 31 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
The President expressed hopes for the success of Kazakhstani athletes in the Paralympic Games, where 10 licenses for participation have already been obtained, and there is a possibility that their number will increase. These games will take place in Italy in early March.
Tokayev emphasized that the very fact of successfully passing the qualification indicates the high potential and readiness of the athletes for victory. He also reminded that Kazakhstani athletes have repeatedly confirmed their high level at the Winter Olympic Games over the years of independence. The names of such Olympians as Vladimir Smirnov, Lyudmila Prokashova, Elena Khrustaleva, Denis Ten, Yulia Galysheva, and many others have entered the history of national sports.
According to the president, successes in sports become a source of pride for the entire country, strengthen national unity, and raise Kazakhstan's authority on the international stage. He added that the achievements of each athlete represent the success of the entire nation.
Tokayev expressed confidence that the efforts of the athletes will bear fruit, and they will return with victories, noting that the entire nation will actively support them. He presented the State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the members of the national team — Denis Nikish, Ayauym Amrenova, and the representative of the Paralympic team Yerbol Khamitov.
