Last week, the final, 11th flight took place, during which 44 Uzbeks returned to their homeland. The journey home took more than a day, with several intermediate stops, including airports in Armenia and Romania.

According to diplomats, many of those who returned spent a significant amount of time in migration centers in the USA, trying to illegally cross the country's border.

One of the migrants shared his experience, stating that his trip was driven by curiosity and stories from others. The cost of his relocation was $23,000, while some of his acquaintances spent up to $80,000.

He noted that the journey from Uzbekistan to Mexico took almost a month, and the most challenging part was through forests and desolate areas. Upon arriving in the USA, he was placed in a detention center, where he spent three months.

“Some people have been in these centers for many years. It is a huge ordeal that can break a person both morally and physically. My advice to those who hear stories about easy money abroad is — don’t trust it. The reality is different, and finding a job or obtaining documents after arrival can be extremely difficult,” he shared.

The returning Uzbeks expressed gratitude to their government for assistance in their return.

Additionally, as reported by “Dunyo,” employees of the Uzbekistan embassy in the USA visited migration centers in Virginia, where they met with compatriots, examined the conditions of their detention, including health, nutrition, and other aspects of life in such institutions.

The migrants reported that they were detained for illegal entry into the USA, and most of them are facing legal proceedings regarding deportation. They appealed to the diplomats for help in returning home as soon as possible.

Embassy representatives, considering changes in US immigration policy, strongly urged Uzbek citizens abroad to obtain legal residency and strictly adhere to local laws.
