At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, held on February 24, Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev reported on plans to create a registry of citizens in need of liver and kidney transplants.

The issue of the number of people in Kyrgyzstan requiring liver transplants was raised by Deputy Zhyldyz Egenberdieva.

Kadyraliev noted that currently such a registry does not exist; however, the ministry is actively working on its creation for both categories of organs.

The Deputy Minister also pointed out the insufficient level of infection control in private clinics and other medical institutions.

Deputy Egenberdieva expressed dissatisfaction regarding the incompleteness of the screening program for viral hepatitis.

Umutkan Chokmorova, director of the Republican Center for the Control of Hemocontact Viral Hepatitis and HIV, noted that three years ago, the functions of hepatitis diagnosis were transferred to the Republican AIDS Center, as the pathways of its spread are similar.

“Among people with HIV, the number of hepatitis C cases reaches 1300, and hepatitis B cases reach 400. Thanks to effective hepatitis treatment, we approached the president, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Ministry of Health, and the hepatitis control service was included in the structure of the Republican AIDS Center,” she reported.

Chokmorova added that the screening program is operational, and the Cabinet is allocating the necessary funds for its continuation.

Currently, the center is conducting a vaccination campaign against hepatitis among workers, as they often lack time for vaccination.

Egenberdieva noted that in some regions, citizens are required to be vaccinated first before they can undergo screening.

Before vaccination, express testing is conducted everywhere using capillary blood. If the test is negative, vaccination is administered; in the case of a positive result, the patient is referred for further tests, Chokmorova explained.
