Sergey Leonov, head of the State Duma Committee on Health, commented on the lawsuit that Kyrgyzstan filed against the Eurasian Economic Union. This statement is related to Russia's refusal to provide medical insurance policies for migrant families.

According to Leonov, migrants from Kyrgyzstan can obtain additional health insurance in Russia.

He noted that working migrants and their families have the opportunity to independently purchase additional health insurance policies to receive medical services.

“Our position should be unified: medical institutions should not be overloaded with foreigners. Family members of working migrants can pay for health insurance themselves and receive the necessary assistance. Migrants have the right to emergency medical care, and they will not be denied. However, the question is why our state should finance their treatment at the expense of our budget?” added Sergey Leonov.

Earlier, Kyrgyzstan appealed to the EAEU court to clarify the situation regarding mandatory health insurance after there were cases of refusals to issue policies to labor migrants' families. A court decision is expected to be made within two weeks.
