He noted that Kyrgyzstan holds leading positions in the production of walnuts, including wild varieties, and also has certain reserves of wild pistachios.
With the increase in domestic demand and the active development of the tourism sector, the volume of confectionery production in the country is also growing. Kyrgyz confectionery products are in demand in Kazakhstan and Russia; however, local raw material supplies are beginning to fall short of needs.
In this regard, options for sourcing pistachios from Tajikistan are being considered. According to Takirov, this product is ideal for making pasta, cakes, cheesecakes, and other sweets.
“Considering the growth in tourist flows, the demand for such products increases annually, which requires a reliable source of supply,” he noted.
Takirov added that sourcing raw materials from the neighboring country would help reduce logistics costs, and pistachios from Tajikistan possess flavor qualities that meet the requirements of Kyrgyz producers.
Moreover, he emphasized the opportunities for industrial cooperation. In Tajikistan, the production and processing of aluminum, which is used in various sectors, are actively developing. In Kyrgyzstan, in particular, a plant for the production of cable products operates, and aluminum and duralumin radiators for heating systems are also produced.
Takirov noted that importing aluminum from Tajikistan could lower transportation costs, which, in turn, would positively affect the cost price of finished products and increase their competitiveness.
