Among the key priorities highlighted by the director are:
1. Increasing the freight turnover of rail transport to 15 million tons per year.
2. Developing warehouse and logistics infrastructure, with plans to introduce at least 1 million square meters of new warehouse capacities by 2030.
3. Construction and reconstruction of roads of national significance. As Takirov noted, for a mountainous country, it is important to ensure transport connectivity between regions, which will contribute to more balanced and sustainable economic growth.
4. Increasing the added value and significance of the transport sector in the economy, which is expected to contribute $1.5 billion annually to the gross domestic product.
5. Developing air transportation, including passenger services, considering the growing interest in the region from tourists.
Takirov also noted that over the past 3-4 years, there has been a significant increase in the cost of logistics services, making the development of alternative transit corridors relevant. The effective functioning of these routes requires the alignment of rules and procedures among all participating countries, including the states of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as access to the ports of Turkey and Georgia.
He added that for the successful development of not only "hard" infrastructure but also "soft" components, such as digital documents and unified procedures, mutual recognition at borders is necessary.
