- Important aspects of agriculture in Central Asia encompass not only food security but also employment and economic growth. Nuriddin Kushnazarov, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, mentioned this at the sectoral session I "Regional Business Agenda B5+1 on Agriculture," held on February 4.

In his opinion, the agricultural sector is a crucial factor for export and regional integration.

Kushnazarov noted that, according to forecasts from the leadership of Uzbekistan, the volume of the agricultural sector could grow from the current $40 billion to $60 billion.

To achieve such results, sustainable information exchange, product quality improvement, and digitalization of the agri-sector are necessary. He identified the main obstacle on this path not as trade and production, but rather the synchronization of information flows and logistics. According to him, for access to international markets, the implementation of digital traceability of products and electronic veterinary certificates is critically important.

Kushnazarov also reported on the adoption of a state program for the digitalization of agriculture in August 2025, which involves the creation of a unified platform for the integration of data from agricultural producers and agribusiness, as well as the implementation of drone technologies.

He highlighted among the immediate tasks the unification of government bodies, companies, and associations for the implementation of digital tools, as well as the harmonization of standards, which he believes poses a serious obstacle for producers.

The advisor to the minister added that reforms in regulation have already allowed for a transition to a more efficient model that meets sanitary requirements and international standards.

Kushnazarov also reported that over the past nine years, the export of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan has increased from approximately $600 million to $3 billion, with the goal of reaching $5 billion.

In conclusion, he emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and interaction with partners, noting that digitalization and standard unification can enhance trust and expand access to markets.
