- At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to judicial and legal issues, the fight against crime and corruption, held on February 10, 2026, deputy Suyunbek Omurzakov drew attention to the sausage products of the company "Rikha," which previously contained pork.

Addressing Deputy Minister of Economy Sultan Akhmatov, Omurzakov noted the presence of contradictory information on this issue.

“There are different opinions: some claim that the products are halal, while others say that pork is indeed present. What are the results of this case?” - the deputy asked.

Akhmatov replied that DNA from pork was found during the first inspection at the veterinary laboratory.

“Pork DNA was recorded after analysis in the veterinary laboratory. Later, on January 12, we conducted additional research at the Center for the Development of the Halal Industry, which showed no presence of pork,” - he explained.

However, Omurzakov expressed doubt about the reliability of the control, noting that having a certificate does not guarantee compliance with standards in the future.

“Companies can provide documents and then continue to add pork. How often are checks conducted on such producers?” - he inquired.

The Deputy Minister responded that their department does not issue permits for the production of halal products, as there is a separate procedure for this.

“We do not have the authority to issue such permits; there is an established procedure,” - noted Akhmatov.

Nevertheless, the deputy disagreed with this position, emphasizing the need for restrictions in case of non-compliance with standards.

“If the product does not meet the requirements, it should be banned. Otherwise, consumers are misled into thinking they are buying halal products,” - emphasized Omurzakov.

Akhmatov added that a new draft law is being developed specifically to address such issues.

“This draft law will aim to introduce accountability,” - the deputy minister reported.

In conclusion, Omurzakov highlighted the need for increased control until the new law is adopted.

“While the draft law is not adopted, are you planning to wait? We already have a resolution on halal products. I support this project, but until it is adopted, it is necessary to increase the number of inspections and control over companies,” - concluded the deputy.

During the meeting, the draft law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Amendments to the Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on Offenses” was also considered in the first reading. This document aims to establish and improve legal norms in the field of the halal industry.
