The Housing Committee approved the ratification of a $20 million grant from Japan for the reconstruction of the bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek-Osh highway.

- At the meeting of the Committee on Industrial Policy, Transport, Fuel and Energy Complex, Architecture and Construction, held on February 24, a draft law "On the Ratification of Exchange Notes between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government of Japan regarding the project 'Reconstruction (Construction) of the Bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek – Osh Road to Improve Connectivity with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route' and the Grant Agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), signed on December 12, 2025, in Bishkek" was presented. The document received approval in the first reading.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Janibekov provided information about the draft law.

He noted that the aim of the project is to improve transportation links between Kyrgyzstan and neighboring countries through the reconstruction of the bridge over the Naryn River, which will ensure safer and uninterrupted transport movement.

“The construction of the bridge will take place at the 315th kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh road in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region. The Japanese government is allocating a grant of up to 3 billion 190 million yen for the project 'Reconstruction of the Bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek-Osh Road to Improve Connectivity with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route,' which is approximately equivalent to 20 million 416 thousand 639 US dollars,” added Janibekov.
