Turatbek Idrisov, head of the Department of Crop Production, Horticulture, and Cooperation of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, emphasizes the importance of growing agricultural crops for society, such as wheat, barley, potatoes, onions, and sugar beets. He noted that grains and sugar beets occupy a primary place in the strategic reserve of products necessary for ensuring food security.

At the same time, crops such as raspberries, strawberries, and corn show a high level of profitability. Farmers who wish to develop their farms in this direction are advised to use drip and sprinkler irrigation. The use of modern irrigation methods can provide access to subsidies and preferential loans with low interest rates from the government.

Furthermore, recent studies show that with an increase in livestock numbers in the country, there is a rise in the cultivation of barley and corn.

“Before the start of spring fieldwork, farmers should analyze the soil and apply the necessary mineral and agro-mineral fertilizers to increase yields, without exceeding the recommended norms,” added Idrisov.

The Ministry also advises farmers to check the purity of seeds and the condition of the soil by conducting an examination before soil treatment and sowing any crops, including grains. Based on this data, it is possible to determine which crops are advisable to grow, as yields largely depend on these factors, emphasized Turatbek Idrisov.
