A group of activists called Robins of the Alleys has claimed responsibility for the incident. They stated on social media that the action was aimed at supporting families facing food insecurity during the holiday season. According to their claims, the food was distributed under the Christmas tree and donated to local food banks. The activists also condemned large retailers for the constant rise in prices of essential goods.
Representatives of the Metro chain, for their part, stated that theft, regardless of its motives, is a criminal offense. They reminded that in 2025, the company had already allocated significant funds to support food banks and charitable organizations for the underprivileged.
