Criticism of the Ministry of Construction in the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan due to high real estate prices

At today's parliamentary session, the policy of the Ministry of Construction was criticized for leading to an increase in housing prices. Participants of the session provided details, as reported by 24.kg.

Akyilbek Tumonbaev, one of the critics, pointed out that the head of the Ministry of Construction shares information on social media about the high salaries of his subordinates, reaching up to 500,000 soms.

“Nevertheless, against this backdrop, the cost of housing continues to rise. Construction companies report that the price per square meter is increasing due to the Ministry of Construction's requirements for the payment of various licenses and taxes. These issues should be addressed by the relevant committee. While public sector employees earn 30-40,000 soms a month, some Ministry of Construction employees receive 500,000, which is a clear injustice,” Tumonbaev expressed his opinion.

Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu supported his criticism, noting the importance of the issue raised.

“Representatives of the construction sector are turning to parliament with complaints about existing problems. The Ministry of Construction sets tariffs that are beneficial only to itself, although they should be approved by the Jogorku Kenesh. This leads to an increase in housing prices in the country. This issue needs to be thoroughly studied by the relevant committee before being brought to the plenary session,” the speaker added.
