According to expert hunters, the recording was made in Russia; however, nature and hunting enthusiasts from Kyrgyzstan have begun to wonder why the fox is behaving this way and whether this behavior is typical for local foxes.
Yuri Gorbenko, an experienced hunter and head of a hunting group from the Issyk-Kul region, shared his opinion:
“Judging by the deep snow and the color of the fox, the video was likely made in Russia. Our foxes have a different coloration — the 'steppe color' is more common, although brightly colored individuals can be seen in the mountainous areas of Issyk-Kul. As for behavior, Kyrgyz foxes are also known for their cunning and agility. I have often observed them enjoying fruits and berries in the winter and autumn periods, and I have found their stomachs full of apples after hunting in gardens near Issyk-Kul.”
The winter fur of foxes is very thick and soft; it is harvested during this period by trapping the animals or shooting them, and sometimes using golden eagles.
Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky also commented on the fox's behavior:
“The fox is a predator that feeds on everything available: from frogs to hares and pheasants. When food becomes scarce, it turns to insects and eagerly eats greens, as well as fruits and berries. Thanks to its light and flexible body, the fox can reach the most inaccessible places, including large branches of trees and shrubs.”
