Families applying for benefits for residents of high-altitude areas are those who do not actually live there

Authorities plan to tighten control and optimize the process of verifying actual residency

At a joint meeting of the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too," Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, reported that new support measures for residents of high-altitude areas have revealed issues with confirming the actual residency of families.

According to him, the government has made justified decisions aimed at supporting families living in high-altitude areas, as well as stimulating birth rates in these regions. However, during the process of applying for benefits, it became clear that applications for payments are submitted by families who, although registered in high-altitude villages, actually live elsewhere.

“We are now introducing a procedure whereby the ayil okmotu will confirm that the family actually resides at the specified address. There may be registration, but people can actually be in another region, which creates problems,” Baisalov noted.

He also emphasized that the Cabinet of Ministers intends to take steps to ensure that benefits are delivered specifically to those families who actually live in high-altitude and hard-to-reach areas.

It is worth noting that special payments are provided for residents of high-altitude areas. Since January 1 of this year, families with a third and subsequent child are entitled to 3,000 soms per month until the child reaches the age of three. Additionally, starting in 2026, mothers of multiple children from high-altitude areas will be able to receive a one-time "Bala Berekе" benefit ranging from 100,000 to 2 million soms, starting from the fourth child.
