The work on the extension of Bakayev Street, as reported on "Birinchi Radio" by Abdijapar Kul Zhanbolotov, the deputy director of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the Bishkek City Hall, is expected to be completed this year. However, residents continue to complain that the project has been delayed for three years.

According to Zhanbolotov, the roadwork began in November 2024. Last year, the process was nearly completed, but there were difficulties with the relocation of utilities.

There were thermal networks in the area that were successfully relocated. However, additional time was needed to work with two gas lines, which caused delays. "Gazprom" has completed its work, and now, with the temperature rising, it is planned to start asphalt paving. "We are confident that we will finish all the work this year," he added.

Not only the gas lines caused delays; there were also issues with drainage. Currently, road workers are constructing a drainage system that is supposed to connect to the Ala-Archa River.

Zhanbolotov noted that difficulties with land clearance also pose a problem, as some plots were transferred to private ownership in 2022, and there is a "red book" on them. "We explain that we need to continue the work, and we are currently addressing this situation. Some claim that this section will yield nothing. I want to clarify: the street will be extended from Bokonbaev with a bridge over the Ala-Archa River and will connect to Beishenaliev Street," he emphasized.

It has also become known that the reconstruction work on the southern side of Deng Xiaoping Avenue, L. Tolstoy Street from Termchikova Street to Frunze Street, and Auezov Street from Jibek Jolu Avenue to Salieva Street has been postponed to 2026.
