A 6th-grade student at the children's art school in the At-Bashinsky district of the Naryn region, Nurali Talaybekov, is passionately mastering the komuz, which he considers a symbol of the Kyrgyz people.

From early childhood, Nurali has shown interest in this musical instrument and strives to share the national culture with those around him.

“Seven years ago, I first picked up the komuz. During this time, I have seen many places, participated in various competitions, and achieved significant success. Last year, I successfully completed my studies and received a diploma. Now I continue to improve my skills. Thanks to the komuz, I hope we will have the opportunity to go to Turkey. The Turkish people truly value the komuz and know about the roots of the Kyrgyz. For them, it is an honorable instrument, and they treat the Kyrgyz people with great respect,” shared the young musician.

Nurali also noted that he has participated in several major competitions, among which his significant achievement is a prize-winning place in the "chopo choor" nomination. He is currently showcasing his skills at the international competition "Dostuk shany".

“The komuz for us is not just an instrument. First of all, when Kyrgyz people are mentioned, Manas Ata comes to mind, and only then the komuz. It is truly a symbol of our people. Those who have tried to play the komuz understand its deep meaning and spiritual power,” he added.

Playing the komuz holds an important place in his family's life. His father and many relatives also play this instrument, which enhances his passion.

“In my childhood, I recited fragments of the epic 'Manas', participated in wrestling and arithmetic competitions. In addition, I studied playing the kyl kiyak and piano. Currently, I am learning to play the guitar. Now I know more than 40 melodies. The main thing on stage is not to be nervous; otherwise, you can get confused,” noted Nurali.

Family support plays a crucial role in the young musician's successes. He also expressed gratitude to his mentor Nazgul Zhologonova for her hard work and trust.

At the moment, Nurali is in the 8th grade at the Karybek uulu Akmataaly secondary school and plans to continue to promote his native instrument and introduce the world to Kyrgyz culture.
