In the village of Bayetov, located in the Ak-Talinsky district of the Naryn region, military-applied games were held in memory of the veterans of the Tajik-Afghan events.

This information was reported by a Turmush correspondent.

A festive military-cultural event dedicated to the veterans who participated in stabilizing the situation at the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan took place at the secondary school named after Esengul Karasartov.

Representatives of local authorities, veterans of the Tajik-Afghan events, as well as heads of the ayil okmotu and leaders of various institutions participated in the celebration.

As part of the event, organized with the support of the school administration and the pre-conscription training teacher Samat Beyshenov, students presented various military-applied games. A concert program was also prepared. Veterans received monetary allowances and awards from the Ak-Talinsky district state administration and the ayil okmotu.

It should be noted that the conflict at the Tajik-Afghan border began in the early 1990s, specifically during the period from 1992 to 1997, during the civil war in Tajikistan. Armed groups of the Tajik opposition attempted to cross the border from Afghanistan, leading to clashes with border guards. The conflict was localized with the help of Soviet and Tajik servicemen, but as a result of the hostilities, many people were injured and killed.

Approximately 3,000 servicemen from Kyrgyzstan participated in the Tajik-Afghan events, and to date, 36 of them are registered with the Ak-Talinsky district military commissariat. On February 25, 1999, Kyrgyzstan completed the withdrawal of its troops from the Tajik-Afghan border.
