On March 5, the celebration of the Day of the Ak Kalpak took place in the Kochkor district, as reported by a Turmush correspondent.

Many participants attended the event, including representatives of the district administration, employees of various institutions and enterprises, as well as staff from the ayil okmotu.

The procession, featuring people in ak kalpaks and holding red flags, started from the building of the district state administration on Bayaly Isakiev Street. After passing through Sagymbay Orozbakov Street, the group reached the "Seil" park.

At the district House of Culture in the "Seil" park, the first deputy akim Erkin Chekirbaev, the deputy akim, and the head of the ayil okmotu Ormon Khan addressed the residents of the district with congratulatory messages. Following this, cultural workers presented an entertainment program.

The initiative to celebrate the Day of the Ak Kalpak was first proposed in 2011 by a group of activists who suggested holding the holiday on March 5.

This idea was supported by the population, and soon patriots and residents of Kyrgyzstan began to take to the streets in ak kalpaks. Later, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the proposal was approved, and on June 29, 2016, a resolution was adopted, officially establishing March 5 as the Day of the Ak Kalpak.

Today, March 5, the entire country celebrates the Day of the Ak Kalpak — a symbol of Kyrgyz culture. This holiday was established to preserve and respect the significance of the national headwear, support traditions, and foster a sense of pride among the people for their culture. Unofficially, the celebration began back in 2011.
