The Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, Mirbek Mambetaliev, shared details about plans to increase salaries for cultural workers in an interview with AKIpress.
He reported that starting from April of this year, all budget employees involved in education and culture will receive a salary increase of 50%. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture has proposed an initiative to increase bonuses for its employees.
“This initiative was supported by the chairman and members of the Cabinet of Ministers. Each theatrical and entertainment institution has special funds that were earned through their labor. Previously, only 30% of these funds could be used for bonuses; now we have increased this figure to 70% to motivate our employees,” noted Mirbek Mambetaliev.
Earlier, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev announced that a salary increase for public servants is planned in two stages in 2026. Thus, starting in April, the salaries of teachers, medical workers, cultural employees, and support staff will rise by at least 50%. The second stage of the increase is expected on September 1, when the salaries of municipal and state employees will also increase by 50%.
Kasymaliev also added that approximately 57 billion soms will be required annually to implement this increase, of which 39 billion is already accounted for in the budget for 2026.
