The livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to a new site, and modern facilities are planned to be built in its place. The initiative was announced by Mayor Altynbek Ergeshov during a meeting with traders.

The livestock market in Tokmok is one of the largest markets in northern Kyrgyzstan, where various types of livestock are traded.

The mayor noted that the existing market does not meet sanitary and veterinary standards, and its location poses a threat to the safety and comfort of residents.

As a result, a decision was made to move the market to a new location that is at a safe distance from residential areas and roadways, which will improve conditions for both traders and buyers.

The mayor emphasized that the territory of the old market has great potential for further development of urban infrastructure, including attracting foreign investors.

The new market project includes the construction of multifunctional buildings and the creation of a space for businesses focused on innovation and technology.

According to the municipality, the new livestock market will provide all necessary conditions: modern infrastructure, compliance with sanitary and veterinary norms, as well as safety for all participants.

The Chui district administration reported that the new market will be located in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoe, but details about the area and construction timelines are not yet known, as the project is in the planning stage.

Livestock traders expressed the opinion that the old Tokmok market had an important advantage — its proximity to other trading platforms. “If the new market is at a sufficient distance from the road and meets the standards, we will be able to adapt. But the Tokmok market had convenience: there were food and spontaneous markets nearby, which allowed us to make other purchases right after selling livestock,” they shared.

Turmush also reported that the livestock market in Tokmok will be closed starting January 1, 2026. This decision was the result of an inspection that revealed the market was operating on a commercial basis without the necessary investments in infrastructure.

The owners did not provide adequate conditions for sanitary and veterinary infrastructure.

The closure occurred due to systematic violations of safety norms and sanitary requirements.

Despite numerous warnings, the owners did not take measures to address the issues.

Trading livestock in this area is being discontinued. Farmers and buyers are advised to use other operational markets or remote platforms for livestock sales.
