The situation surrounding the construction of the residential complex "Altai" in Bishkek has become a topic of discussion after a video of flooded excavation sites appeared on social media. In response, the Ministry of Construction provided its comments.
In the department, it was noted that before the start of construction work, necessary engineering-geological and engineering surveys were conducted in accordance with current legislation. The results of these studies allowed for the determination of the groundwater level, and the project documentation includes solutions aimed at diverting them and organizing a drainage system.
Furthermore, the height of residential buildings is limited to five stories, which also takes into account the geological features of the site.
The Ministry explained that the measures mentioned are aimed at ensuring both the safety of construction and the further operation of the facilities.
The Ministry of Construction also emphasized that the "Altai" complex falls under the category of low-rise development, and issues of seismic safety have been thoroughly analyzed by the relevant state departments. Therefore, separate approval of the project by the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic is not required.
Thus, the opinion of the president of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanat Abdrakhmatov, regarding the necessity of such approval does not correspond to reality.
Additionally, the ministry urged citizens to rely on official information and not to succumb to panic.
It should be noted that there are currently other large construction projects underway in this area, including on the territory of the Osh market and the new bus station, as well as the ongoing construction of five-story residential buildings. Buildings erected during the Soviet period continue to be operated without issues.
The Ministry of Construction assured that all work on the construction of the "Altai" residential complex is being carried out in strict accordance with current regulations and under constant supervision.
