Irakli Garibashvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia, has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined 1 million lari as a result of a plea agreement with the prosecution, according to DW.

Previously, the former prime minister faced a prison sentence of 9 to 12 years. Additionally, Garibashvili had 6.5 million dollars confiscated, which were found during a search of his home.

At the end of October, the prosecution charged him with legalizing particularly large illegal income.
